How to See All Your Business Sales in One Place, Without Logging Into Your Website
You want to know how much your business has sold this week, and the answer is spread across several places. Online shop orders are in your website’s admin. What’s paid at the counter is in the POS. Card payments are in the payment gateway’s dashboard. Bookings or enrolments are in yet another program. To bring it all together, someone copies it by hand into a spreadsheet, and when your accountant asks for the quarter’s figures, you start all over again.
In short: a custom sales dashboard brings together the sales from your website, your POS, your payment gateway or your booking system, and shows them to you at a glance on your phone, without logging into your website’s admin. All it needs is for those systems to let us read or export their data, and you usually don’t need a new website.
Why is it so hard to know how much you’ve sold?
Because each system is built for its own part of the job and only shows its own part. Your website knows what sells online; the POS, what’s paid in the shop; the gateway, the payments that go through it. None of them is designed to give you the full picture of the business.
You notice it in things that come back every week:
- You log into your website’s admin to check orders, at the risk of changing something you shouldn’t.
- Shop sales and website sales are checked separately, and you add up the total yourself.
- To see what sells best, you build a spreadsheet by hand, which is out of date as soon as you close it.
- Your business partner or accountant asks you for the figures by email, and every time you have to put them together again.
What is a custom sales dashboard?
It’s a private page, built for your business, that gathers the sales from your different systems and shows them to you in order: totals for the day, the week and the month, which products sell best and which days do best. You open it on your phone or your computer, without logging into your website’s admin and without touching anything in the shop.
“Custom” means it shows what’s useful to you. A shop with premises and a website wants to see sales from both channels together. An academy wants to see the enrolments for each course. A club, its members’ fees and the sign-ups for each activity. The dashboard is built around those questions, not around a generic template.
What data can it bring together?
Data from the systems you already use, as long as they let us read or export it:
- Your website: online shop orders, sign-ups or enrolments.
- Your POS: what’s paid in the shop.
- Your payment gateway: card payments.
- Your booking system: bookings and what’s been paid for them.
Before we start, we go through each one and tell you what can be brought together. If any of them won’t share its data, we tell you before giving you the quote and work out an alternative together.
Who can see it?
The people you choose. Each of them signs in with a personal account and sees only the part you decide to show them. Your business partner can check the sales for the whole business; your accountant, only what they need for the books; and nobody has to log into your website’s admin to look up a figure. That way you stop preparing reports by email: whoever needs the information looks it up.
Do I need a new website?
In most cases, no: we integrate the dashboard into your current website, as long as your website allows it. If it doesn’t fit, you’ll know before any work begins and we’ll find another route with you.
How much does it cost?
It depends on how many systems need bringing together and what information you want to see. That’s why each dashboard is quoted individually, and you’ll know the price before any work begins. Small tweaks are paid for with an hourly package and projects at a fixed price. The same quote includes the date we’ll hand it over.
After delivery, if you want the dashboard kept up to date along with your website, we look after it as part of a maintenance plan; if you’d rather handle it yourself, that’s fine too.
